Thule Evo Track Roof Rack Installation on a Nissan Frontier
The Nissan Frontier with a truck cap is a versatile midsize pickup that’s popular for driving in Calgary and heading into the mountains for weekend adventures. With a smooth truck cap roof and no factory mounting points, it requires a custom track system to safely support a roof rack. For this installation, our team set up a Thule Evo Track system paired with aerodynamic WingBar crossbars. The result is a strong, low-profile base rack ready for carrying bikes, skis, cargo boxes, ladders, and more.
Clean, Secure Fit on the Nissan Frontier Truck Cap
This Nissan Frontier features a fiberglass truck cap with a smooth roof surface and no pre-installed mounting points. Because of this design, a track system must be installed by drilling and sealing the roof to create strong, permanent anchor points.
The Thule Evo Track system uses aluminum tracks that are bolted directly into the cap. Once installed, the Evo Fixpoint feet and WingBar crossbars sit low and level, delivering a clean appearance while maintaining excellent load capacity and full compatibility with Thule accessories.

What We Installed on This Nissan Frontier
- Thule Fit Kit 187201
- Thule Evo Fixed Point Foot Pack 710701
- Thule Track and Bolts 60"
- Thule Evo WingBar 118 (47") Black
Why This Rack Setup Works for Calgary Drivers
- Custom track installation for vehicles without factory mounting points
- Strong and stable base for heavy loads like rooftop tents, ladders, or cargo boxes
- Aerodynamic WingBar design reduces wind noise on highway drives
- Built to handle Alberta weather including snow, wind, and year-round use
Important Fit Note: Precision Track Cutting and Placement
This installation required modifying the standard components to properly fit the truck cap. The 60 inch Thule tracks were carefully measured and cut down to 40 inches to match the roofline of the cap. Accurate measurements are critical, as drilling into the cap is permanent and must align perfectly for both strength and appearance.
Once positioned, the tracks were drilled, sealed, and bolted into place to ensure long-term durability and weather resistance.

Professional Installation by Our Calgary Team
This install took approximately 3 hours and required careful layout and precision drilling. Our team completed the installation with a focus on long-term performance and clean fit:
