Thule Edge Fixed Point Roof Rack Installation on a 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Shop Roof Rack Systems

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class is a compact luxury sedan that is popular for city driving in Calgary while still being capable of weekend adventures across Alberta. With factory fixed mounting points hidden under the roof trim, it is rack-ready, but only with the correct vehicle-specific fit kit. For this installation, our team set up a Thule Edge Fixed Point roof rack system paired with low-profile WingBar Edge crossbars. The result is a sleek, aerodynamic rack that maintains the clean design of the A-Class while providing a solid base for bikes, skis, cargo boxes, and other outdoor gear.

Clean, Secure Fit on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class

This A-Class features factory fixed mounting points hidden beneath small trim covers along the roofline. Because of this design, the rack system must connect using a precision engineered fit kit that locks directly into those mounting locations.

The Thule Edge Fixed Point system uses specialized hardware that drops into the vehicle’s mounting points and twists 180 degrees to lock securely inside the roof frame. Once these anchors are installed, the fixed point foot packs bolt onto them and the WingBar Edge crossbars attach to the feet. The finished system sits very low on the roof, giving the vehicle a sleek and near factory appearance.

What We Installed on This 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class

Why This Rack Setup Works for Calgary Drivers

  • Direct fixed point connection designed specifically for the A-Class roof
  • Low-profile WingBar Edge design keeps the rack sleek and aerodynamic
  • Compatible with bike racks, ski carriers, and compact cargo boxes
  • Perfect for Alberta adventures from winter ski trips to summer mountain biking

Important Fit Note: Mercedes-Benz Fixed Mounting Points

Some vehicles, including the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, use hidden factory mounting points that require a precise fit kit for proper rack installation. The correct fit kit ensures the rack attaches securely to the vehicle frame and maintains the proper spacing and load support.

On this installation, the system uses two different bar lengths. The longer bar installs in the front position while the shorter bar installs at the rear. Using the correct bar configuration ensures the rack sits evenly and maintains proper clearance for accessories.

Professional Installation by Our Calgary Team

Our team completed this installation with careful attention to detail. Pre-assembly of the bars took about fifteen minutes and the final vehicle installation took roughly fifteen minutes as well.

  • Verified the correct fit kit and components for this specific Mercedes-Benz A-Class
  • Installed the fixed point anchors and locked them into the vehicle frame
  • Mounted the Edge foot packs and positioned the front and rear bars correctly
  • Torqued all fasteners to Thule manufacturer specifications
